A SWOT analysis can be carried out for a company, product, place,
Notes
industry, or person. The SWOT method was originally developed for
business and industry, but it is equally useful in the work of
community health and development, education, and even for
personal growth. It involves specifying the objectives of the business
venture or project and identifying the internal and external factors
that are favourable and unfavourable to achieve that objective.
You will be required to do several SWOT analyses on a number of
aspects in the course of the programme, especially pertaining to
aspects that you will be researching. It is a very powerful tool to
identify areas for development/improvement and how to address
them to effect the required change(s). As stated in the previous
paragraph, it applies to both the work you do as well as to you as a
professional person.
Identification of SWOTs is important, because they can inform later
steps in planning to achieve the objective. When doing a SWOT
analysis, you must ask and answer questions that generate
meaningful information for each category (strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and threats) to make the analysis useful in finding their
competitive advantage.
It is not necessary, but if you are interested in reading more about
this concept, you can visit the following websites:

A SWOT analysis is typically conducted using a four-square SWOT
analysis template, but you could also just make a list for each
category. Use the method that makes it easiest for you to organise
and understand the results. When looking at strengths and E
