Introduction
To be a successful student, you need to:
• be disciplined and work according to well organised schedule;
• work regularly;
• be well-organised;
• manage your time well; and
• reflect critically on your own learning and progress.
To support you in your studies
• the learning process is divided into four learning cycles called
semesters, where you will be engaging with two modules per
cycle. You are now engaging Semester I;
• this learning cycle entails the following engagements:
o A short contact session (orientation session).
o Getting to grips what a professional portfolio of evidence
means to prove competence.
o Doing a SWOT analysis.
o Laying the foundations for your research project.
o Starting to develop a professional portfolio of evidence to
prove competence.
Assessment
Only a small part of this module will be assessed on its own while
you are completing this module. The main assessment of the
portfolio will happen throughout the programme, with the final
summative assessment being conducted at the end of the
programme, i.e. towards the end of your second year. The reason for
this is provided in the range statement of the portfolio unit standard E
that specifies that the portfolio must provide “evidence of applied D
competence in terms of the core exit level outcomes of the AdvDip U Professional portfolio and workplace project - Part 1
(School Leadership and Management)”. © Copyright reserved
