Introduction

Standard, this module is an updated version of the manual. Edutel
Higher Education will recognise all AdvDip(EL&M) students’ prior
learning in the field of Computer Literacy (ICT Skills) through a
Recognition of Prior Learning process (RPL).

              What is RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) refers to the principles and
processes through which the prior knowledge and skills of a person
are made visible, mediated and rigorously assessed and moderated
for the purposes of alternative access and admission, recognition
and certification, or further learning and development.

              • RPL is programme-specific: recognition is given only for
learning that is aligned to the learning outcomes and
assessment criteria of a specific programme or module, and
                    not primarily the content.

              • Recognition is given only for current competence, as
determined by the relevant programme coordinator at Edutel
                    Higher Education.

              Principles of RPL

              • RPL will be used to grant exemption from completing an
additional 12 credit module at NQF Level 5. Successfully
achieving the outcomes of this ICT Skills module contributes
towards completion of the AdvDip(EL&M) qualification.

              • RPL recognises prior learning as equivalent to the prescribed
formal minimum admission requirements and may recognise
other forms of prior learning for granting advanced standing in
the AdvDip(EL&M) programme through exemption from the
Communication and ICT Skills in the Classroom module at
                    NQF Level 5. E
