1.2 Being professional
As professional person, you must prove through your portfolio that
can work independently, that your actions are guided by the code of
ethics of your profession embodied in the South African Council for
Educators.
1.3 The portfolio
Preparing a professional reflective portfolio of evidence to prove
competence as professional leader in education thus implies that
your portfolio is NOT a mere lever arch file with a collection of
papers, documents or examples! It is MOST important that the
portfolio speaks loudly on your behalf using the evidence included to
prove your competence as education leader/manager. The South
African Council of Educators (SACE, 2003) suggests the following
eight-step process of developing and maintaining a portfolio of
evidence of professional competence:
Step 1: Planning and preparation
Professional portfolio and workplace project - Part 1
Step 2: Physical appearance and organisation of your portfolio
Step 3: Deciding on portfolio content
Step 4: Selecting the relevant portfolio material
