Module 4
5. Keeping employees informed
Notes
As stated in the introduction to this module, we as employees are all
dependant on one another to work as a team because our individual
productivity will have an effect on our colleagues, as will their
productivity have an effect on us.
Where we have to provide a colleague with something in the form of
a document, information, report or material to enable him/her to
carry out his/her duties/tasks, that employee becomes our 'internal
client'. The same applies to colleagues who would need to provide
us with any of these resources/items in order for us to carry out our
duties/tasks. We in turn are their internal clients.
Internal communication links should be of such a nature that there is
open up/down and sideways communication between all levels of
staff at all times. It is only with this type of internal communication
network that all employees will, at all times, gain/have access to the
workplace schedule, thus keeping them informed should any
changes be made to the schedule that would have an effect on their
role and responsibilities.
6. Schedule adjustments/changes
As is the case with diaries, the workplace schedule is not cast in
stone.
L As periodic adjustments to tasks/priorities occur, names of
E T employees as well as deadlines could be changed.
